Collections Manager

Tru Energy Federal Credit Union, a $126+ million dollar Credit Union located in Springfield, Virginia, is looking for an experienced Collections Manager. The Collections Manager oversees all collection activities for the credit union, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and internal regulations. This role reduces delinquency, manages charge-offs and recoveries, and performs hands‑on collection duties, maintaining strong relationships with members while protecting the credit union from loss.

• Collect on delinquent accounts through phone, email, notices, and formal communication
• Recommend charge-offs, repossessions, legal action, and settlements; coordinate with attorneys when needed
• Manage bankruptcies, garnishments, negative balance write-offs, and Chex Systems reporting
• Prepare reports for management and the Board; recommend policy and procedural improvements
• Handle e‑Oscar disputes, return deposit items, and account discrepancies
• Represent the credit union in legal proceedings and coordinate repossessions
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including FCRA, FDCPA, BSA, and OFAC
• Perform other collection‑related duties as assigned

• High school diploma required; degree preferred
• 7+ years of financial institution experience with consumer loan collections
• Strong communication, member service, and problem‑solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard office systems
• Ability to manage difficult situations and maintain professionalism
