Network Engineer/Architect – Meta Phase
Meta Phase is seeking a Network Engineer / Architect to support the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of secure, scalable, and high‑performance network infrastructures within complex federal IT environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in government networks, a passion for solving technical challenges, and a collaborative mindset that thrives in cross‑functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities- Design, implement, and manage enterprise‑level LAN/WAN, cloud, and hybrid network environments.
- Support and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and related network hardware/software.
- Troubleshoot network outages, performance issues, and configuration problems across physical and virtual networks.
- Monitor network health and usage, analyze traffic, and optimize performance and availability.
- Lead network architecture planning and modernization efforts aligned with agency goals and security requirements.
- Ensure adherence to federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP) and contribute to ATO documentation.
- Collaborate with system administrators, Dev Sec Ops teams, and security engineers to support infrastructure‑as‑code and zero‑trust architectures.
- Provide Tier III escalation support and serve as a subject matter expert for network‑related initiatives.
- Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and SOPs.
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise network implementation and maintenance.
- 5+ years supporting government IT networks (civilian or DoD environments).
- Expertise in TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and wireless networks.
- Experience designing and implementing secure network architectures and segmentation strategies.
- Hands‑on experience with networking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto) and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, Direct Connect) and hybrid designs.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to lead incident response for network issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field.
- U.S. Citizenship required. Must obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
- Experience with FedRAMP, FISMA, or DHS CDM environments.
- Knowledge of SD-WAN and Software‑Defined Networking technologies.
- Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for network provisioning.
- Support for agency‑wide network modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
- Experience with in DHS and TSA environments.
- Hybrid – Based in Springfield, VA. Occasional travel may be required.
- Must obtain Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, IT Management, or related field.
