Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
MandatorySkills
- Experience executing required system checks on operational, test, and development servers and workstations
- Familiar with supporting Windows operating systems (installing patches, SDATs), server maintenance, workstation maintenance, and peripheral equipment
- Some experience or equivalent knowledge executing back-up procedures on servers
- Must be willing to work at the Springfield location
- Experience or equivalent knowledge/training in UNIX, Linux, networks, firewalls, and routers
- Experience working with Active Directory or Veritas
- Experience in support of DCID 6/3 and/or ICD 509 certification of servers
- Experience with IIS
- Experience with SQL Server database administration
- Experience with Power Shell and other industry scripting languages
- Documented experience and training with VERITAS products
- Experience with networks, firewalls, and switches
