Position: Security Specialist - Personnel Security with Security Clearance
Full Description The Security Specialist supports the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency  (NGA) Office of Security (SIS) providing critical Personnel Security (PERSEC) services within the Security and Installations Directorate (SI). This position ensures the integrity of NGA  personnel security processes through continuous vetting, employability assessments, background investigation reviews, and process improvement initiatives  while maintaining compliance with federal standards and NGA policies. Responsibilities Support and maintain established PERSEC programs, ensuring compliance with NGA, DoD, and IC security policies.

• Execute daily personnel security operations, including reviewing background investigations and assessing employability/suitability determinations.

• Prepare, write, and present reports, whitepapers, and program briefings to SIS leadership and key stakeholders.

• Maintain accurate and timely records across systems such as People Soft, DISS, QART, and SISP SharePoint, ensuring all actions are properly documented.

• Perform audits of Investigative Service Provider (ISP) Reports of Investigation (ROI) to identify disqualifying information that may pose national security risks.

• Review investigations for compliance with Federal Investigative Standards (FIS) and 5 CFR Section 302, documenting findings in QART and coordinating with the Government Point of Contact (GPOC).

• Deliver suitability and employability assessments within established timelines and quality standards (IRTPA, DNI, OPM).

• Provide responsive and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, resolving inquiries and discrepancies efficiently.

• Assist the government PERSEC team in identifying process improvements and provide actionable recommendations for program enhancement.

Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance required.

• Bachelor  Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

• 7  years of experience in personnel security within the DoD or Intelligence Community (IC).

• 3+ years of suitability/employability experience, assessing cases to OPM standards.

• 3+ years of QART experience, auditing background investigations for quality and compliance.

• Proven experience reviewing ISP ROIs and assessing risk for federal employment determinations.

• Demonstrated understanding of Standard Form 85/86, scoping requirements, SEAD 3 reporting, and SEAD 4 adjudication guidelines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing professional and accurate reports.

• Excellent organizational skills, ensuring all timelines and compliance standards are consistently met.

• Proficient in DoD/IC security systems including People Soft, DISS, and other personnel security record systems.

• Familiarity with IRTPA, DNI policies, and 5 CFR Section 302 related to suitability and employability determinations. Desired Qualifications Experience making unfavorable recommendations to leadership regarding the suitability of applicants

• Familiarity with reviewing CI and full scope polygraphs for admissions that are disqualifying in nature for federal employment
