Security Specialist

Our client is a trusted utility and energy provider delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions to homes and businesses. The Security Specialist supports the organization's physical security program through security assessments, facility inspections, incident management, security technology administration, and capital improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, contract position based in Springfield, VA, paying $28.00 per hour.

• Conduct physical security assessments of facilities, offices, operational sites, and critical infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform routine and special site security inspections to ensure compliance with policies and verify security equipment functionality.
• Document security incidents, support investigations, and prepare reports and summaries.
• Support daily operation of security systems including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems.
• Assist with planning, implementation, and tracking of physical security capital projects.
• Maintain security records, develop reports, and support security awareness initiatives and training programs.

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Security Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in security, emergency management, facilities security, or investigations. Internship or cooperative experience is desirable.
• Basic understanding of physical security principles, risk management, access control, CCTV, and security systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across departments.
