All Points is seeking a trained and certified Lead Generator Technician (GT). The GT shall be “on-call” 24/7 to support the “campus-wide” generator plant system for a Federal Agency in Washington, DC area. The lead technician shall possess certified training as listed below.
MTU Certified Training- Design and function of Advanced Diesel Engineer Controller (ADEC)
- Service and Application Module (SAM)
- Dia Sys and service tools
- Replacement of components
- Successful completion of MTU certified GEN I and GEN II courses
- Five years of demonstrated experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations of generators ranging from 5kW to 2500kW capacity
The lead generator technician performs a variety of skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing, and modifying diesel electric generating equipment for standby and portable generators. Work includes servicing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engine driven electric generators and related equipment. Investigates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs diesel generator problems.
Preventive Maintenance Lead Responsibilities- Checking for leaks, worn parts, taking oil samples; checking battery and charger connections
- Ordering and installing replacement parts
- Adjusting, calibrating, and inspecting operation of auto transfer switch equipment (Generator Paralleling Switchgear)
- Conducting load tests as required
- Preparing records of repairs, maintenance, parts ordered, and parts used
- Documenting modifications to system
- Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
- Inspect, repair, service, and install generators and associated control systems that run on diesel, natural gas, or propane combustion engines and provide electrical power
- Execute load bank tests to assess generator output rating and validate generator operational performance
- Rewire, adjust, and install all components of the generator, engine, and switch gear. Modify speed controls and voltage based on customer requirements
- Move heavy objects with a pallet jack, forklift, and heavy equipment trucks
- Use hand tools including wire strippers, soldering guns, infrared meter, and other power tools to make repairs
- Ensure that the service truck is equipped with needed parts and tools to complete planned repair of generators in the field
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures in completing repairs and maintenance
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5+ Years
- Active, current, and fully adjudicated US DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility is required. Unfortunately, candidates that do not have a TS Clearance are not eligible.
- Motor and Turbine (MTU) certified training in the following areas:
- Design and function of Advanced Diesel Engineer Controller (ADEC)
- Service and Application Module (SAM)
- Dia Sys and service tools
- Replacement of components
- Successful completion of MTU certified GEN I and GEN II courses
- Five years of demonstrated experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations of generators ranging from 5kW to 2500kW capacity
- Excellent customer relation skills in a high-stress environment
- Active, current, and fully adjudicated US DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility is required. Unfortunately, candidates that do not have a TS Clearance are not eligible.
