Sign‑On Bonus

Up to a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for new Rental Field Service Technician hires. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 180 days.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician in Springfield, Virginia. The Technician applies advanced‑level mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar and allied rental equipment in the shop and at customer job sites; applies troubleshooting techniques and determines proper repair procedures; prepares parts requisitions.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of three years of experience performing advanced‑level mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment. A high school diploma or GED is required.

• Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze unique and high‑level problems/issues quickly, and improvise using logic and critical thinking skills to make needed repairs.
• Advanced‑level mechanical aptitude.
• Must have the ability to repair Caterpillar and allied components and machines.
• Works independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to interact with customers on a professional level.
• Must be a strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
• Must be self‑directed and well organized with the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
• Demonstrates ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
• Proficient in use of technical software, databases and manuals.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Must be able to work additional hours as needed to meet business and customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the Rental Field Service Technician job, including the ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
