Spring 2026 Lifeguard – Department of Safety & Rescue

Hiring: 10–15 Lifeguards

Pay: $16–$19/hour + potential bonuses

As a Lifeguard with the St. James Department of Safety & Rescue (DSR), you’ll join a professional, award-winning team responsible for aquatic safety and first-responder medical support across our 450,000 sq. ft. sports, entertainment, and wellness complex.

From our competition pool and water park to contracted waterfronts and high-profile events, this role puts you in the center of an active, impactful, and respected environment.

We provide paid training, certification, and uniforms to prepare you for rescues, CPR, and emergency medical response. You’ll gain experience that strengthens your resume, opens doors to leadership roles, and develops the skills of a true first responder.

• Monitor aquatic areas and enforce safety rules
• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide care until EMS arrives
• Conduct safety inspections and complete detailed incident reports

• Must be 17+ years old by start date
• Strong swimming ability and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Prior customer service or team sports experience preferred

• 200-yard medley swim: 75 breaststroke, 50 sidestroke, 75 freestyle (under 3:50)
• 25-yard head-up sprint (under 20 seconds)
• 25-yard dummy tow (under 50 seconds)
• 2-minute hands-only CPR with consistent quality
