Volunteer for Good Champion. Lane 2 - $17.47 per hour, 2 hours per day, 5 days a week. Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply. There are no benefits with this position.
Purpose StatementThe job of Volunteer for Good Champion is done for the purpose/s of supporting the UServe High School Hub Champion and the school’s service-learning initiatives by training students, teachers, and coaches; promoting volunteer opportunities; and ensuring accurate tracking of service hours. This role fosters a culture of volunteerism by providing technical support, developing new service opportunities, and ensuring appropriate supervision of student activities.
This job reports to Principal Secondary.

Essential Functions- Develops and coordinates new volunteer opportunities for the purpose of expanding service learning experiences and increasing student involvement.
- Monitors and tracks student volunteer hours for the purpose of recognizing progress and encouraging continued engagement in volunteerism.
- Promotes school-based volunteer opportunities through various communication channels for the purpose of increasing student awareness of and participation in service activities.
- Provides in-class technical support to students and teachers for the purpose of promoting confidence and ease of use with the UServe High School Hub.
- Supervises student volunteer activities for the purpose of ensuring student safety, accountability and appropriate adult oversight.
- Trains students, teachers and coaches on the UServe High School Hub for the purpose of ensuring the effective use of posting and tracking volunteer opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
Responsibilities include:
working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; directing other persons within a small work unit; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to affect the organization’s services. Limited time is required outside of the typical school day to supervise this activity. Supervision is required for a limited to moderate number of students.
There is limited to moderate opportunity for student interaction with the public and/or involvement of members of the community with the program.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.
