Description

Experienced Vehicle Technician (Modern Cars & LCVs)

No Weekends | £37,000-£41,000 | Engine & Major Component Specialist | St Albans

Looking for something different from servicing and MOT work?

At IAA Mechanical Solutions, we specialise in diagnosing faults and replacing major components on modern cars and light commercial vehicles. If you enjoy the more challenging side of vehicle repair - engines, gearboxes, drive motors and identifying the root cause of complex faults - you'll fit right in.

We're a friendly, supportive team with a genuine family-business feel, working with some of the UK's largest fleet and insurance companies. Most of the vehicles we repair are under seven years old, giving you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of modern makes and models without the repetitive routine servicing found in many workshops.

If you're looking for a role where your diagnostic skills are valued and every day brings something different, we'd love to hear from you.

What we offer
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm – No weekends
  • Competitive salary of £37,000-£41,000, depending on experience
  • 31 days' holiday, including Bank Holidays
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Pension with 3.5% employer contribution
  • Uniform and PPE provided
  • Free onsite parking
  • Vodafone employee discount
  • Paid volunteering day for a charity of your choice
What you'll be doing
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults on modern cars and light commercial vehicles.
  • Replacing major components including engines, gearboxes, fuel systems, turbochargers and drive motors.
  • Carrying out vehicle health and safety checks.
  • Road testing vehicles and completing final quality checks before sign-off.
  • Working closely with the Workshop Manager and Sales Team to provide technical information and accurate fault diagnosis.
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship while following Health & Safety procedures at all times.
What we're looking for Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent).
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Experience replacing major components including engines, gearboxes, cylinder heads, fuel systems and turbochargers.
  • Experience working on modern cars and light commercial vehicles.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Your own tools.
  • A positive attitude and pride in producing quality work.
Desirable
  • F-Gas qualification.
  • Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle qualification.

Please note:

This role is subject to a satisfactory DBS and Right to work in the UK checks.
