Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking dependable and professional individuals to join our team of Examination Invigilators. Invigilators play a vital role in ensuring examinations are conducted fairly, efficiently and in accordance with examination regulations, whilst providing a calm and supportive environment in which students can perform to the best of their ability.

Working closely with the Head of Exams, you will assist with the preparation of examination venues, supervise candidates during examinations, distribute and collect examination materials, and help ensure that all examination procedures and regulations are followed accurately.

We are looking for individuals who are reliable, punctual and attentive to detail, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with both students and colleagues. Successful applicants will be comfortable following detailed procedures, working both independently and as part of a team, and responding calmly and professionally to unexpected situations. Previous experience of examination invigilation or working in an educational environment would be advantageous, but not a requirement.

An eagerness to learn new systems, including our examinations management platform Exams Assist, is also desirable, and full training will be provided.

This is a flexible, term-time role with working hours determined by the examination timetable. While the main examination season takes place between May and June, opportunities for work are available throughout the academic year, including January mock examinations, November resit examinations, university admissions and scholarship assessments, and academic competitions such as the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Maths Challenges. Availability for both morning and afternoon examination sessions is desirable.

Candidates must be in sympathy with the Catholic ethos of St Columba’s College. In return, we offer a pay rate of £14.24 per hour including holiday pay, free lunches and refreshments during term time and free car parking is available on site.

St Columba’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All postholders will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including reference checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
