Specialist,Revit & BIM technology (International)
The Role
The Specialist, Revit & BIM technologies owns the availability and quality of Miller Knoll’s Revit/BIM models for our European and Asian products. The goal is straightforward: our digital assets should make it easy for designers to specify Miller Knoll products, and hard to reach for anyone else’s.
RoleThis is a hands-on product management role that sits at the intersection of Miller Knoll's physical products and the digital, Revit versions of these products. You will develop a thorough understanding of our furniture systems and use that knowledge to write clear technical specifications for the creation of our models. Day-to-day, you will:
- Work with our product management teams to understand existing and upcoming products
- Define how best to build those products as Revit families, with a focus on offering great user experience
- Build the families, and provide specifications for other Revit engineers
- Connect with end-users in A&D practices to understand their needs and ensure our offering is considered ‘best in class’
The quality and availability of our models directly influences whether Miller Knoll gets specified on projects. Right now, we do not have Revit models for all product lines, and the families we do have do not always meet the end user’s expectations. You will be the person who understands what designers need, assesses the gaps in our offering, defines how best to make our products shine in Revit, and develops the model alongside our internal Revit Engineers.
WhatYou Will Do
- Own the roadmap for Miller Knoll International’s BIM/Revit offering
- Build and maintain working relationships with BIM managers and specialists at A&D firms. Understand how they work, what they expect, and where we are falling short.
- Translate what designers need into clear, actionable briefs for in-house and external development teams.
- Develop some families yourself
- Review Revit families before they go to market. Assess them against professional standards for performance, componentisation, and metadata, and reject or rework anything that does not meet the bar.
- Manage how our models reach the market: the Miller Knoll website, third-party content aggregators, or firm-specific asset management databases
- Act as the go-to person for Revit ad BIM within the business. Work with our A&D sales teams to promote our digital offering.
- Keep track of what competitors are doing with their digital assets and flag where we need to respond.
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years working in an A&D firm, BIM management, or digital product management.
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit. Specifically, you understand how Revit families are used in large-scale commercial interiors projects, not just how to build them.
- Ability to build…
