Senior Fire Engineer

My client is looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of their St Albans-based operations.

This role is built for a specialist who thrives on high-level commissioning and surgical fault diagnosis. As the team’s primary technical authority, you’ll be the "go-to" for escalated site issues and a mentor to the wider field team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Commission addressable and conventional fire systems in full compliance with manufacturer and British Standards.

* Execute complex fault-finding and root-cause analysis to resolve persistent system issues and hardware failures.

* Configure system logic, intricate cause-and-effect sequences, and multi-panel networked arrangements.

* Manage a diverse portfolio of systems including Gent, Advanced, Ziton, Morley, and Kentec.

* Apply technical knowledge of air sampling, suppression, and smoke ventilation to provide comprehensive site solutions.

* Act as the primary on-site lead, mentoring junior engineers and providing high-level guidance on complex installs.

* Conduct site audits and technical inspections to identify non-conformances and maintain engineering excellence.

* Manage on-site stakeholder engagement, resolving escalated technical concerns while maintaining professional service standards.

The successful candidate will have:

* At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role

* Proven experience in commissioning & fault-finding complex fire alarm systems

* Strong technical understanding of systems, programming, and diagnostics

* Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and professional communication

* A proactive, accountable mindset with a commitment to doing the job right first time
