The opportunity

We are working with a well-established accountancy and advisory firm in St Albans that is looking to appoint an experienced Private Client Tax Manager
.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys working closely with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates and family groups. The role offers genuine advisory exposure, direct client contact and a clear route towards Director.

You will join a collaborative private client team advising clients on a broad range of personal and trust tax matters. The firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice and building long-term client relationships.

The role

As Private Client Tax Manager, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth private clients.
  • Advise individuals, families, trustees, executors and family investment structures.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of personal, trust and estate tax returns.
  • Provide advice on income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and trust taxation.
  • Advise on estate planning, succession planning and family wealth structures.
  • Support clients with tax-efficient remuneration, investments and disposals.
  • Assist with inheritance tax planning and the administration of estates.
  • Review complex tax computations, returns and advisory work prepared by the team.
  • Manage a range of advisory projects from initial scoping through to completion.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and their wider professional advisers.
  • Work closely with partners, directors, lawyers, investment managers and other specialists.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value and support business development activity.
  • Supervise, coach and develop junior members of the private client tax team.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the private client offering.
The clients

You will work with a varied portfolio that may include:

  • High-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
  • Entrepreneurs, business owners and senior executives.
  • Family groups and family investment companies.
  • Trusts and trustees.
  • Estates and executors.
  • Non-domiciled and internationally connected individuals.
  • Clients with complex investment, property and business interests.
About you

You will ideally be:

  • CTA qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • An experienced Private Client Tax Manager, Assistant Manager or Senior Manager.
  • Experienced in advising high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates.
  • Technically strong across personal tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax.
  • Comfortable handling complex advisory work and managing client relationships.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to understand clients' wider objectives.
  • Confident communicating with clients and professional advisers.
  • Experienced in reviewing work and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing deadlines.
  • Interested in progressing towards a Director-level position.

Experience with trusts, estates, family investment companies, international tax matters or non-domiciled clients would be advantageous.
