Practice Nurse | St Andrews, Fife

Salary/Banding: within the range of Band 6, dependant on skills and experience

Hours: 30 hours per week, specific days to be negotiated

An opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse to join our established and forward thinking team. Pipeland Medical Practice is a busy, friendly training practice with a patient population of over 15,000 patients. Based within the town of St Andrews within a modern Community Hospital, we are committed to multi-disciplinary team working.

Out team includes eight GP Partners, an ANP Partner, a salaried GP Retainer, three further Advanced Nurse Practitioners, three Practice Nurses, two Health Care Assistants, a Mental Health Triage Nurse, the wider Health Visitor and District Nursing teams as well as support from NHS Fife Pharmacists, all of whom are supported by an experienced administration team. The ideal candidate will be friendly and motivated with excellent communication skills.

The role involves chronic disease management, autonomously running clinics for patients with COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, CHD, Hypertension, CVD, and to help promote healthy lifestyles to patients managing their health conditions. The role will also consist of Family Planning, Cervical Cytology and INR Clinics. It is also desirable to be an independent prescriber or working towards this qualification, but is not essential.

Although previous experience of working in a Primary Care setting is desirable, it is not essential, and the candidate must be willing to complete the General Practice Nurse course, delivered by NES and supported by the practice, or equivalent training.
