Strategic Lead for EDI and Belonging

North Wales | Hybrid Working Available

Help us turn our commitment to inclusion into lasting change

At Clwyd Alyn, we want everyone to feel like they belong.

We strive to create diverse and inclusive working and living environments where people feel happy, comfortable and safe to be themselves. We want our workforce to be representative of the communities we serve, and we're committed to creating places where people feel valued, represented, connected and able to thrive.

We’ve already made significant progress on our Equality and Inclusion journey, but there’s more to do.

We’re looking for an experienced EDI and Belonging professional to help turn good intentions into meaningful action, ensuring we meet our legal obligations while creating workplaces and communities where people genuinely feel they belong.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of inclusion at Clwyd Alyn and help deliver one of our key commitments:
Our pledge to Tai Pawb’s Deeds, Not Words.

What’s in it for you
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays - rising to 30 days after 5 years' service
  • Option to buy or sell annual leave
  • Up to 8% pension contribution
  • Hybrid and flexible working opportunities
  • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
  • Work for an organisation recognised for Mental Health & Wellbeing
  • Vivup benefits platform, discounts and savings
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • The opportunity to influence organisational strategy and culture
  • A role with real purpose and impact
What your role will involve

In your role of Strategic Lead for EDI and Belonging, you can expect to:

  • Lead and drive the delivery of our Equality and Inclusion Plan, ensuring EDI and belonging are embedded across our culture, services and decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior leaders, ensuring compliance with equality legislation whilst helping Clwyd Alyn remain ahead of emerging best practice and sector developments.
  • Develop meaningful EDI data, insight and reporting, identifying trends, opportunities and areas for improvement that drive better outcomes for colleagues, residents and communities.
  • Champion inclusive cultures through learning, engagement and awareness initiatives, helping colleagues build the confidence and capability to create inclusive environments.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, colleagues, community partners and external networks to shape our approach, strengthen community cohesion and promote social inclusion.
  • Support the development of staff networks, resident forums and inclusion groups, ensuring diverse voices and lived experiences help shape our services and decision-making.
  • Help identify and remove barriers to participation, accessibility and inclusion, supporting people from all backgrounds to feel valued, connected and empowered.
  • Create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and engagement across diverse groups, helping to build understanding, reduce isolation and strengthen relationships within our communities.
  • Represent Clwyd Alyn externally, building partnerships and identifying opportunities to further our EDI and belonging ambitions.

Ultimately, you’ll help ensure inclusion isn’t something we talk about occasionally – it’s something reflected in how we work, lead, listen and make decisions every day.

What we’re looking for

We’re keen to hear from people who:

  • Have significant experience leading EDI work at a strategic level
  • Can translate legislation, regulation and best practice into meaningful action
  • Are confident influencing senior leaders and challenging constructively when needed
  • Understand how data and insight can drive better outcomes
  • Have experience developing and implementing EDI strategies, frameworks or action plans
  • Can build strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Are passionate about creating inclusive workplaces and communities
  • Balance empathy and compassion with credibility and professional expertise

You’ll have strong knowledge of equality legislation and regulatory requirements, but just as importantly, you’ll understand how to move organisations beyond compliance and towards genuine inclusion.
