North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are seeking to identify suitable individuals for Station Manager (B) Control roles. The promotion board process enables successful applicants to be eligible for appointment within a 12-month period or until a new process commences. As per Grey Book terms and conditions the appointments are interchangeable with any other post of the same role within the Control Department.

Applications are invited from substantive and competent Watch Managers and existing Station Managers employed in a UK Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service who hold sector competence in the Control Room. The successful Applicant will also provide operational cover for the Control Room on a flexible basis.

Candidates will need to be exceptional leaders who can make a significant contribution to the management of the Control Room and staff. Ideally, therefore, candidates will be able to evidence a strong, credible record of leadership, experience and achievement.

Candidates will be required to complete a full application form having read the guidance notes carefully in relation to providing evidence against all the essential criteria in the person specification. Candidates will be required to deliver a 15 minute presentation (the presentation topic will be advised within the confirmation of shortlisting) and answer questions in relation to the presentation delivered and the requirements of the role.

Whilst fluency is not required, some Welsh Language skills are a requirement of this post. If applicants do not possess these skills on

appointment, they will be fully supported to develop basic Welsh skills within 12 months or their appointment. More information of the level of these skills can be found in this video.
