Job Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer – North Wales site. The role involves designing mechanical solutions in line with business requirements and operating CNC machines to produce high‑quality parts.

• Operate CNC machines in a fully functioning machine shop.
• Set up machinery to ensure efficient production of precision components within correct dimensions suitable for further processing.
• Read and interpret complex design drawings.
• Maintain and ensure adherence to health and safety standards within the workshop.
• Identify and implement improvements in the machine shop to increase productivity.
• Ensure required quality and operating standards are satisfied at every stage of manufacture to achieve optimum quality.
• Instruct other employees on the operation of machinery and processes, and assist other personnel in the department.
• Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness in accordance with the operator’s maintenance schedule and departmental standards.
• Support business needs by operating across the entire department as required and participate in ongoing process and business improvement programmes.
• Plan and produce one‑off type components and special project work that fall outside the average production level of work.

• Mechanical Engineering technical certification: NVQ Level3 or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification or demonstrated experience.
• Experience with NC machining – setting and running equipment.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements in the workshop.
• Candidate flexibility may be required.
