The University of St.Gallen is strengthening its course offering in Computer Science with a new Assistant Professorship focused on Usable Security. We seek an individual who will direct the creation of a new research group in this context while actively contributing to the further development of the School of Computer Science at the University of St.Gallen and building bridges with other disciplines across the university.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science (or be near completion) and an excellent track record in research and teaching at the intersection of Cybersecurity and Human-Computer Interaction. Successful candidates are expected to develop international recognition in one or several of the topics of the call. A strong publication record in high‑impact venues such as USENIX Security, SOUPS, IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, ACM CHI, IMWUT, and PoPETS is desired, as are experience and a track record in industry collaboration and third‑party funding.
The successful candidate will design and hold courses in the Bachelor and Master of Computer Science programs at the University of St.Gallen, and will be an active and visible member of the faculty. The candidate is expected to engage in outreach activities and academic citizenship within the university and on a global level.
The appointment is for 6 years, with an intermediate evaluation after 3 years and a tenure evaluation after 6 years (with the option for promotion to associate professor). The School of Computer Science currently hosts almost 100 academic and administrative employees from diverse backgrounds and has been committed to increasing diversity across dimensions since its inception.
