Global Category Manager - Direct Materials

We're recruiting for a Global Category Manager to join the global procurement team of a leading international manufacturing business.

This is a commercially focused role managing direct material categories in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll be responsible for leading complex supplier negotiations, delivering measurable cost savings, securing continuity of supply and driving commercial performance across your category portfolio.

This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who thrives in high-pressure manufacturing environments and enjoys negotiating with suppliers in commercially challenging markets where supplier choice is limited and delivering results requires resilience, determination and strong commercial judgement.

You'll take ownership of global procurement categories, negotiating with suppliers across technically complex direct materials and raw material spend.

Working closely with internal stakeholders across the global business, you'll monitor market developments, benchmark supplier pricing, identify new sourcing opportunities and drive continuous improvement across your category portfolio.

• Manage assigned global procurement categories and supplier relationships
• Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve demanding cost reduction targets
• Conduct RFQs and benchmark supplier pricing against market conditions
• Develop sourcing strategies to strengthen commercial performance and supply security
• Identify and qualify new suppliers where appropriate
• Assess and mitigate supply chain risks across your categories
• Drive supplier performance improvements across cost, quality and delivery
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Deliver measurable procurement savings and business value

We're looking for an experienced procurement professional who has built their career within a demanding manufacturing environment and is comfortable operating where cost pressures, supply constraints and complex negotiations are part of everyday business.

• Significant experience in category management, commodity management or strategic procurement with responsibility for direct materials
• Experience with in automotive or another fast-paced manufacturing environment such as industrial manufacturing, engineered products, advanced materials, metals or chemicals
• A proven track record of negotiating with suppliers in challenging commercial environments, including markets with limited supplier availability
• Experience delivering measurable cost savings while maintaining continuity of supply
• Strong commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills
• The resilience to operate effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
