In this role, you will lead the Site Logistics organization in St. Gallen, enabling the safe, compliant and on-time supply of materials to our manufacturing operations. You will ensure the reliable execution and continuous improvement of warehousing, picking and material flow processes in a GxP-regulated environment, while actively driving operational excellence and automation opportunities across the St. Gallen logistics landscape.
This position combines operational leadership with end-to-end accountability for site logistics performance
. You will ensure that the right capacities, capabilities and performance management are in place to reliably meet production requirements and evolving business needs. You will be a key interface to Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Sourcing/Procurement, International Logistics and other Supply Chain functions and represent Site Logistics in audits, health authority inspections and cross-functional forums.
- Lead, coach, motivate and develop a team of six, establishing clear objectives, providing regular feedback and fostering a strong culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the safe, reliable and compliant execution of warehousing, picking and internal material movements, including effective interfaces with Manufacturing to meet production schedules.
- Take full ownership of inventory management, including cycle counting, ensuring accurate stock records and audit-ready inventory verification.
- Define and manage relevant logistics KPIs, communicate performance transparently to stakeholders and implement appropriate corrective actions to close identified gaps.
- Lead complex cross-functional projects and Continuous Improvement initiatives, supporting the achievement of relevant COS-driven objectives while maintaining GxP compliance.
- Lead structured problem-solving activities and investigations as well as process improvement and validation activities for new or updated logistics processes.
- Own the implementation and continuous improvement of processes and systems to ensure compliance with applicable cGMP, GDP and internal requirements within Site Logistics.
- Represent Site Logistics during health authority inspections and internal audits, ensuring timely and effective execution of CAPA commitments and sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, International Logistics and other Supply Chain functions, as well as relevant internal and external partners, ensuring effective coordination across key interfaces.
- Serve in the designated role for air freight security, ensuring compliance with applicable air transportation security requirements.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership, ensure compliance with EHS requirements and work with the relevant safety functions to investigate near misses and incidents and implement sustainable preventive measures.
- Foster a strong Continuous Improvement mindset within the team and encourage employees to identify opportunities to improve processes, reliability and efficiency.
- Completed vocational training in Logistics and a relevant higher-level qualification, preferably from a Higher Technical College (HF) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Several years of relevant professional experience in Supply Chain Logistics, Warehousing or related operations, including leadership experience within a regulated environment.
- Proven people leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience managing, coaching and developing employees.
- Several years of solid cGMP and GDP experience, ideally around five years or more, within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of operational warehousing, material flow and inventory management processes and proficiency in materials management systems and SAP applications.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving methodologies; knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies is an advantage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively across different levels of the organization.
- Proven negotiation and conflict-management skills.
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
- A recognized qualification in air freight security, or the required eligibility to assume this responsibility.
- Certification as a forklift operator and/or forklift trainer is an advantage.
