Are you a visionary leader ready to make a difference?

SEND Inclusion Support is recruiting an exceptional Head of School for one of our partner schools in St Helens. This is a rare opportunity to lead an established specialist provision, shaping its strategic direction and culture to ensure children and young people with additional needs can thrive.

The school supports pupils with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and we are particularly interested in leaders with experience in these areas, though expertise across the wider spectrum of complex needs is also highly valued.

About the Role

As Head of School, you will lead with purpose and heart, creating a culture that balances outstanding outcomes, wellbeing, and inclusion. Working with a dedicated team, you will ensure that pupils receive a personalised and therapeutic education while meeting all regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Strategic Leadership:
Drive a safe, inclusive, and aspirational culture across the school

* Pupil Outcomes:
Support learners with complex needs to achieve meaningful academic, social, and personal progress

* Curriculum & Quality:
Oversee an engaging, inclusive curriculum and maintain high standards of teaching and assessment

* Inclusion & Wellbeing:
Implement therapeutic approaches, positive behaviour strategies, and inclusive practice

* Staff Leadership:
Inspire, manage, and develop a high-performing team

* Partnerships:
Build strong relationships with families, local authorities, and external professionals

* Compliance & Standards:
Ensure the school meets Ofsted, DfE, safeguarding, and SEND requirements

About You

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced leader with a proven track record in SEND or specialist education:

* Qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)

* At least 3 years’ senior leadership experience in a special school, specialist provision, or SEND-focused setting

* Strong understanding of curriculum leadership, assessment, and delivering outstanding outcomes

* Experience supporting children and young people with complex or challenging behaviours, including Autism

* Skilled in staff management, professional development, and team building

* Collaborative, innovative, and passionate about improving outcomes for learners

This is a rare chance to lead a specialist provision within a partner school, with the autonomy to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people while being supported by SEND Inclusion Support
