1:1 Relational Teaching | Flexible Hours | Immediate Start
Are you a KS4 teacher looking to step away from the pressures of the classroom while still making a real difference in young people’s lives?
We’re looking for dedicated Key Stage 4 educators in St Helens to deliver tailored 1:1 tuition to students who are currently disengaged from mainstream education. These learners may require academic catch-up, GCSE exam preparation, or support with transitioning to college, apprenticeships, or employment.
You’ll work in a variety of calm and quiet settings – such as students’ homes, libraries, or community centres – and may collaborate with schools or alternative provisions to support re-engagement and progress.
Why this role?
* Flexible working hours that fit around your life
* Competitive pay of £26–£30 per hour (PAYE)
* Meaningful, one-to-one support without classroom stress
* Help students gain qualifications, confidence, and future direction
* Collaborate with schools while maintaining independence in your teaching
What you'll be doing
* Delivering 1:1 tuition in core subjects (especially English, Maths and Science), tailored to individual needs
* Supporting GCSE preparation when relevant, at a pace suited to each learner
* Helping students prepare for their next steps into further education, training, or employment
* Using a relational, trauma-informed approach to support both emotional and academic progress
* Working closely with families, schools, and other professionals to support consistency and engagement
* Teaching in non-traditional settings such as homes, libraries, or local community spaces
We’re looking for teachers who
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Have experience teaching Key Stage 4, including GCSE content
* Understand the needs of learners with SEND, SEMH or EBSA
* Are empathetic, flexible, and confident working one-to-one
* Can build positive relationships and adapt their teaching to each learner
* Are comfortable working independently while collaborating with schools and services
This role is ideal for
* Experienced KS4 teachers seeking balance and meaningful work
* ECTs with strong subject knowledge looking to build confidence in a supported role
* Tutors or intervention teachers experienced in GCSE preparation or post-16 planning
* Retired or part-time teachers wanting flexible, purposeful opportunities
What we offer
* £26–£30 per hour (PAYE)
* Flexible hours based on your availability
* Access to CPD, trauma-informed training, and reflective practice
* A kind, inclusive team who will support you professionally and personally
* Opportunities to make a lasting difference, one learner at a time
