Primary Teaching Assistant TES is seeking a proactive and supportive Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in St.Helens supporting pupils across the classroom to help them engage with learning.

This is a [full time/part time] working closely with the class teacher to support pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) or Key Stage 2 (KS2).

The school has a strong focus on inclusive learning and pupil development, with a supportive staff team and a positive learning environment, making it an excellent opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a school setting.

Primary Teaching Assistant role requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based desirable)
  • Experience supporting pupils within a primary school setting
  • Understanding of the primary curriculum (EYFS, KS1 or KS2)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, proactive and supportive approach
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will:
  • Support pupils in the classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Encourage pupil engagement and participation
  • Support behaviour management using positive strategies
  • Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
