Our client St.Helens MBC is looking for a Team Manager to join their Child Protection team.
Role OverviewThe Duty Team Manager will manage a duty team of 6 social workers and one social work assistant, with support from an assistant team manager. The Duty Service responds to all referrals from the front door and completes all children and family assessments. The manager ensures timely allocation and oversight of all assessments and subsequent plans. The Duty Service does not hold cases long term and has transfer points at ICPC, PLO, or when care proceedings are issued.
The team may hold some child in need work that is not complex and can be managed on a short‑term basis; more complex child in need cases will also transfer.
- Oversee and manage Section 47 investigations and multi‑agency working.
- Provide support and supervision to team members.
- Manage performance and risk and care planning.
- Maintain high standards of practice and ensure staff welfare and wellbeing.
- Experience in oversight and managing Section 47 investigations.
- Experience in multi‑agency working and providing support and supervision.
- Proven ability to manage performance and risk and care planning.
- Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the vulnerable.
