What you will do:

Hold and effectively manage challenging cases, ensuring the delivery of exemplary services in line with statutory requirements and departmental priorities, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for children and young people. Demonstrate effective practice in complex situations by assessing and managing higher levels of risk, liaising with various professionals in multi-disciplinary teams. Model best practice and set expectations, providing coaching and mentoring to student social workers.

Execute the responsibilities as specified in the Children's Act 1989, and other relevant legislation, working closely with children and their families. Investigate allegations of neglect, ill-treatment or abuse, making necessary enquiries, and initiating Child Protection procedures where required. Supervise children on Child Protection or Children in Need plans, ensuring accurate monitoring. Assess and supervise children cared for by St Helens Council, fulfilling statutory duties to these children.

Prepare reports, statements, and legal documents required for criminal and family proceedings, attending court to represent the department. Develop and implement care and protection plans in complex situations through various interventions, adhering to quality standards and best practice guidelines.
