Warehouse Operative

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for rotating shifts warehouse operatives to join Booker on a permanent contract with 16‑week probationary period.

• Pick and load goods correctly in accordance with safe standards and work instructions.
• Operate all manual and mechanical handling equipment safely to avoid damage to goods, property or people.
• Perform daily pre‑equipment checks and report any faults immediately to a manager.
• Report dangerous stacking, racking damage, obstructions and other danger or irregularities immediately to a manager.
• Assist with counting stock as required.
• Assist with issuing paperwork and documentation as required.
• Participate in re‑coupe of damaged stock as requested by manager.
• Undergo any training required by the company.
• Perform any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business.

• Numeracy and literacy skills.
• Experience with in warehouse chambers preferred, but not essential.
• Experience operating high‑reach or forklift trucks preferred, but not essential.
• Flexible and versatile, able to produce quality standard of work.
• Must be able to handle goods carefully and comply with safety regulations.
• Must successfully complete a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.

• 4‑week rotating shift pattern:
  Week 1 – Monday‑Friday 14:00‑22:00;
  Week 2 – Monday‑Friday 06:00‑14:00;
  Week 3 – Sunday‑Thursday 14:00‑22:00;
  Week 4 – Sunday‑Thursday 06:00‑14:00.
• Weekend working pattern available:
  Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday – 38‑hour and 40‑hour patterns available.

• Hourly base rate plus shift premium calculated on basic hours worked between the following bands:
• 18:00‑23:59 – 15% premium.
• 00:00‑05:59 – 25% premium.
• Saturday and Sunday – 20% premium.
• Day shift 06:00‑17:59 – no premium.
• Shift premium not paid on any overtime hours.
• Site incentive scheme based on individual performance.

In‑house training and support to equip you with the necessary skills. Permanent contract with 16‑week probationary period.
