Educated Appointments are delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking training provider to recruit a Plumbing & Heating Apprenticeship Tutor and Assessor.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Plumbing and Heating professional who is ready to step away from the tools, or an existing Tutor/Assessor looking to join a high-quality, specialist training environment where learners are supported to build successful, sustainable careers in the energy sector.
You will be joining a modern training centre with excellent workshop, classroom and assessment facilities, working with apprentices and adult learners across plumbing, domestic heating, gas, oil, solid fuel and renewable technologies. This is a role where your industry knowledge will genuinely make a difference, helping the next generation of engineers develop the technical skills, confidence and professional standards they need to succeed.
The organisation is passionate about delivering high-quality training and is particularly focused on supporting the future of the sector, including the move towards low-carbon technologies and the UK’s wider green skills agenda.
As a Plumbing & Heating Apprenticeship Tutor and Assessor, you will deliver engaging classroom and workshop-based training to apprentices and adult learners, supporting them through their qualification journey and helping them develop both practical competence and underpinning knowledge.
You will teach across key areas such as sanitaryware, hot and cold water systems, central heating, gravity-fed systems and domestic gas safety, while also introducing learners to renewable and low-carbon technologies including air source and ground source heat pumps.
You will also support learners with assessments, portfolio development, EPA preparation and practical observations, ensuring they are well prepared to achieve and progress in their careers.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training across plumbing and domestic heating programmes, including apprenticeship delivery and adult short courses.
The role will include:
* Delivering engaging workshop and classroom sessions to apprentices and adult learners
* Teaching plumbing, heating, domestic gas and renewable technology content
* Supporting learners working towards Level 3 apprenticeship standards and short course qualifications
* Preparing learners for assessments, practical observations, mock exams and End Point Assessment
* Carrying out workshop-based and, where required, on-site assessments
* Maintaining learner portfolios using an e-portfolio system
* Supporting internal quality assurance activity and awarding body requirements
* Keeping training materials up to date with current industry regulations and standards
* Ensuring workshops, tools, bays and training rigs are safe, well maintained and compliant
* Promoting excellent health and safety practice across all learner groups
About You
This role would suit someone with strong industry experience in plumbing and heating who enjoys sharing knowledge, developing others and seeing learners grow in confidence.
You may already be working in education and training, or you may be an experienced engineer who is interested in moving into a rewarding teaching and assessing role. Full support can be provided towards teaching and assessor qualifications where required.
You will need:
* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Domestic Heating, or equivalent
* Current ACS Domestic Gas qualifications, including CCN1 and CENWAT as a minimum
* Strong knowledge of current plumbing, heating, gas safety and building regulations
* A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in plumbing and heating
* A confident, supportive and professional approach to learners
* Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire apprentices and adult learners
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft packages and digital portfolio systems
* A positive attitude towards quality, compliance and learner achievement
