OverviewThe Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont is seeking a District Facilities Manager (DFM) to oversee the Northeast region.
This is a multi-faceted position that will be responsible for administrative, planning, maintenance and supervisory work at several locations within the district. The position is expected to coordinate assignments, oversee preventative maintenance and smaller scale construction projects. The DFM will be responsible for providing assessments and recommendations during the budget planning process for their district. Additionally, the incumbent will ensure that staffing levels for all shifts are appropriately met and will manage staff expenditures such as overtime, training, mileage and expense reports.
The DFM will travel to various facilities within the district and should be prepared to respond when emergencies occur. Previous supervisory experience is required for this position.
This position has the opportunity to be based in St. Johnsbury or Newport, based on the candidate's preference.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree AND four (4) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
OR
Associate degree AND six (6) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
OR
High School diploma, trade school graduation or equivalent AND eight (8) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
Preferred QualificationsA degree or coursework in construction, architectural or engineering or closely related.
