Tool & Die Maker role at TE Connectivity.

To provide a toolmaking service in the manufacture of new tools and the repair/renovation of old tools. Working to very close tolerances and understanding engineering drawings, the maker provides technical advice and training to the toolmaking team.

• Manufacture new tools, repair and renovate old tools, produce samples/prototypes to the required accuracy and quality.
• Handle various tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
• Plan jobs through various stages, deciding the correct machinery and processes to achieve stated accuracy and quality.
• Operate machines safely, maintain a clean and tidy environment.
• Achieve tasks within set time to meet departmental targets.
• Assist in training other toolmakers, new employees and apprentices.
• Carry out reasonable tasks as requested by the Tooling Manager or Engineering Manager.
• Ensure all tooling related activities comply with company procedures.
• Observe Health and Safety regulations and Government legislation.

Good general education required with numeracy and perception essential. Completed an apprenticeship and capable of grinding, turning, milling, and spark eroding on conventional and CNC machinery. Experience in injection moulding processes and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is essential. Must work to very fine tolerances and read/interpet engineering drawings confidently.
