Clinical Nurse Specialist
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Nurse Consultant in Dermatology with a specialist focus on skin cancer and teledermatology. This role combines advanced clinical practice with digital innovation to enhance early diagnosis, streamline care pathways, and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead clinical care for patients with skin cancers including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma.
- Perform skin assessments, biopsies, and minor surgical procedures.
- Act as a key worker for patients undergoing complex treatment or psychological support needs.
- Mentor dermatology nurses and junior staff in skin cancer and teledermatology practices.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service redesign.
- Deliver training sessions on skin cancer recognition and digital dermatology tools.
- Champion the use of teledermatology platforms to triage, assess, and manage skin cancer referrals.
- Collaborate with GPs and community teams to support remote diagnosis and reduce waiting times.
- Provide virtual consultations and follow‑ups, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.
- Participate in skin cancer MDTs and contribute to clinical decision‑making.
- Liaise with oncologists, plastic surgeons, and radiologists to coordinate care.
- Support research and audit activities related to skin cancer and teledermatology.
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
- MSc Dermatology in Clinical Practice or equivalent.
- PhD in Dermatological Sciences or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in skin cancer management and digital health delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision‑making skills.
- Passionate about innovation, patient‑centred care, and service transformation.
