This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make it Memorable
• Perform a combination of duties during 95% of the day, including:
  • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
  • Merchandise recovery
  • Participate in freight process
  • Complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, resets)
  • Assemble merchandise
  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Execute price changes/markdowns
  • Assist customers with loading purchases
  • Ensure safety and well-being of live animals, sanitize, and maintain holding tanks
  • Complete all documentation related to duties
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience:
  
  No experience required; retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is required.

• Pet/live animal, pet food, pet product knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt), adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shifts generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
• Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines.

• Non-sedentary; ability to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Operate equipment safely and properly.
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders frequently.
• Move throughout the store for entire shift.
• Access all store areas safely.
• Operate store equipment and process transactions accurately.
• Transfer merchandise and live animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Complete training and certification as required.
