Unless otherwise indicated: 6.75 hours of student contact per day.
Hourly pay range depending upon education and experience: $16.65 - $18.95.

Position Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Reports To: Overall supervision of the building principal with direct supervision provided by special education teachers (case managers).
QualificationsEducation and Experience: Minimum Level of Education and Experience Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma.
- Must meet MN Department of Education highly qualified status: option
1) 60 credits of post‑secondary education or option
2) Pass para educator exam. - Experience working with PK‑12 age students (preferred).
- Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.).
- Have demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others.
- Have demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Effectively communicate with individual/group of students.
- Have willingness to assume any responsibilities appropriate for the position.
- Support the Mission Statement of the district.
- Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Attend staff and team meetings.
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
- All other duties as assigned.
Implement special education or related services for a class and/or to provide direct assistance to students and provide general student supervision.
Performance Responsibilities80% Inclusive Learning Support
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists.
- Assist faculty with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
10% General Student Supervision
- Monitoring and facilitation in movement of all students in common areas of the school building and grounds (playground, hallways, lunchroom, bus area, classrooms, gym).
- Communication of witnessed student behavior in common areas to faculty if there is a need for reporting student actions.
- Collaborating with other paraprofessionals to ensure the efficient flow of students between academic areas supervised by faculty.
10% Other
- Completion of state and federal forms required for servicing students with disabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
The evaluation process includes day‑to‑day observations and applicable supervision/communication. Supervisors shall provide employees an opportunity to discuss performance and address any issues requiring timely attention.
