Work You’ll Do

At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well‑being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is a residential, sex‑offense‑specific treatment program in a modified therapeutic community and secure setting that serves over 700 individuals who are civilly committed for sexual offending.

The St. Peter site serves clients in the middle stages of treatment and clients with compromised executive functioning in a secure setting.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Providing individualized interventions that target trauma, gender dysphoria, and other mental health needs
  • Completing psychological assessments
  • Consulting with a multidisciplinary team regarding assessment results, diagnosis, effective treatment strategies, and risk management
  • Conducting crisis assessments and interventions related to self‑harm and suicidality
  • Providing leadership and clinical direction to other psychologists, clinical staff, and multidisciplinary teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.

    D. in psychology
  • Licensure as a psychologist (LP) by the Minnesota Board of Psychology or license eligible
  • Doctoral‑level graduates working toward licensure may be hired on a provisional basis and receive supervision under a licensed MSOP psychologist to obtain licensure
  • Note:

    Candidates working toward an applicable degree may apply for a contingent offer based on anticipated graduation/degree conferral
Preferred Qualifications
  • EMDR certification or experience practicing EMDR therapy
  • Demonstrated cultural responsiveness and experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

Reference and background checks will be conducted by DCT prior to appointment.

Education verification:
Applicants must provide a copy of their high‑school diploma or college transcript/degree at the time of interview. College credentials must clearly identify the field of study.

TB screening:
New employees must provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) via blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
