American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring MN licensure, ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications along with at least 1 year of ER experience.
Details- Acute care setting in a Level 4 Trauma ER, stroke ready but not receiving
- 11 total beds with 7 designated to the ER and 2 trauma bays
- Separate triage area, travelers may be assigned to triage
- Urgent care fast track within the ER, rarely covered by travelers
- Treats 25-40 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio
- Patient population includes strokes, chest pain, abdominal pain, flu, MVAs, and ages peds to geriatrics
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p
- Weekend rotation required every third weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun)
- Holiday coverage rotated with permanent staff
- No on-call or standby requirements
- No floating requirements
- No charge nurse 24/7, staffed with 2 RNs in the ER and a 3rd triage nurse when urgent care is open
- House supervisor coverage from 7p-7a
- Active MN RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
- Minimum of 1 year ER experience required
- BSN not required for this position
- Must be comfortable with IV starts, foleys, labs, troubleshooting, and vent management
- Experience managing ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen equipment
- Must be comfortable reading own telemetry strips, as no monitor tech is available
- Experience with common ER drips including sedatives, paralytics, pressors, and cardizem
- Nurses manage respiratory equipment and treatments prior to consulting Respiratory Therapy, which is available via tele-RT/iPad 24/7
- RNs responsible for drawing labs off existing IV access, phlebotomy handles draws when no IV access is present
- X-Ray and CT services available 24/7 across the hall, with X-ray typically handling patient transport
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts, extended if needed, with night shift staff completing all orientation on day shift
- Dress code requires grey scrubs
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling are not available; schedule is created by the manager
- Facility is currently in the process of adding a nursing tech to support staff
