Campus Safety/Security Officer (Overnights)
Pay Range: $19.00–$22.00 per hour (night shift differential applies).
Employment Type:
Full-time (1.0 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, Non-Exempt (Hourly).
- Shift 1: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
- Shift 2: 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Both positions are 10‑hour shifts on an 8‑week rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Shift hours may be adjusted as needed.
Main Responsibilities- Protect life and property, prevent and suppress criminal activity, preserve peace, and respond to requests for safety and security services; enforce state law and campus policies.
- Respond to violent, sensitive, hostile, and/or unsafe situations.
- Provide information, direction, and support.
- Address unsafe situations/conditions.
- Enforce and support all college rules and regulations.
- Support off‑campus authorities as needed (e.g., police, fire department, OSHA).
- Comply with all policies and procedures in the Campus Safety Department manual.
- Respond to all safety calls, determine if personal safety is at risk, secure the area, alert the proper campus departments, and notify off‑campus personnel when necessary.
- Conduct interviews, investigations, and document these activities.
- Patrol the campus, including all student housing, academic and administrative facilities, and grounds, to maintain 24‑hour coverage.
- Document all activity in the daily log.
- Complete detailed incident reports as required, depending on the severity of situations.
- Enforce all parking and vehicle regulations.
- Provide medical services and support to the campus community.
- Maintain the safety of the campus by investigating fire alarms or intrusion alarms.
- Offer general escort services, including medical escorts, as necessary.
- Provide rekey/recore assistance on resident hall entry doors on an emergency basis, when needed.
- Answer maintenance calls after hours and holidays.
- Assist Environmental Health & Safety call for service.
- Maintain crime prevention education.
- Assist the Facilities department with emergency repairs; maintain knowledge of building heating, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Work as weather‑or- emergency‑essential; report to work if scheduled during a campus closure. Receive regular pay for the scheduled hours plus overtime (1½ times the regular rate) for hours worked during the closure.
- All other duties as assigned.
