Overview

MBP is seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities and to work on meaningful projects that support our community. For this position, we seek candidates in the Stafford, Virginia area with evidence of progressive career development. Demonstrated capabilities of overseeing inspection staff. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of engineering technology, project management and materials science. Demonstrated inspection and management experience with building projects.

Experience in applaud construction of K-12 Schools is preferred.

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES:
  • Performs work of considerable difficulty.
  • Represents client on-site providing quality assurance, documentation, cost control, and time management related services.
  • Performs field checks of all “red-line” as-built plans to assure completeness of the plans.
  • Performs on-site compliance inspection, quality assurance and progress monitoring, and payment application review at various construction projects for conformance to specifications and codes.
  • Coordinates, monitors and manages inspection activities on project(s).
  • Ensures that construction is completed in accordance with contract plans and specifications, approved shop drawings, approved material lists, and permit requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with agency, contractor and MBP personnel.
  • Performs final inspection, prepares punchlists, and ensures all items on the punchlist are completed or corrected by the contractor.
  • Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly payment estimates.
  • Oversees and tracks submittals and requests for information. Maintains project correspondence.
  • Understands and performs schedule reviews for project progress and schedule accuracy.
  • Conducts and documents meetings such as Preconstruction and Progress Meetings.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports for ongoing project progress.
  • Inspects all phases of work on a project and advises the contractor superintendent or other representatives of necessary action to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and পদচ.
  • Responsible for rejection of non‑compliant work, and payment of completed work as delegated by the Project Owner.
  • Reviews contractor submittals (to include CPM schedules, materials and methods) for conformance, prepares reports and rejects/accepts submittals (within authority limits delegated by the Project Owner).
  • Performs advanced duties of the Project Inspector.
  • Provides customer services and good etiquette to the traveling public, adjacent property owners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Performs various administrative duties to include but not limited to: daily timesheet and monthly expense report.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • May be required to initiate claims avoidance processes and coordinate with client, contractors, other agencies and MBP personnel.
  • May be required to independently adapt and implement changes to standard construction practices and procedures to meet field conditions.
  • May receive intermittent assignments to inspect critical phases of complex projects.
  • Support analytical assignments which may include: constructability review, cost estimating, CPM and claims.
  • Obtains advanced training and certifications. Must also maintain certifications required to inspect the work for which the Project Inspector is responsible for monitoring.
  • Active participation with company initiatives, and project management (quality reviews, budget/schedule monitoring, Team Member reviews, and recruitment) on small to mid‑size projects.
  • Actively participates in company activities, including but not limited to branch and company meetings.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), some technical school. Associates degree or higher strongly preferred. Developed advanced knowledge of engineering technology, project management, Sovereign materials.
  • Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
