Overview
Patient Observer at Hackensack Meridian Health monitors patient safety under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Observers work one‑to‑one with patients in suicide precautions, behavioral restraints, line of sight or patient safety settings and provide frequent checks for patients on a patient watch order.
Responsibilities- Maintain patient safety and provide direction to prevent falls or wandering.
- Observe patients, record behavior, and report to the RN as directed.
- Travel with patients when needed and work in isolation precautions.
- Perform frequent checks on patients with a patient watch order.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent program.
- Ability to remain mobile and stand for periods of time.
- Work in isolation precautions.
Preferred:
- Previous hospital experience.
- Experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, Nurse Aide training, or current Nursing/Psychology student.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required prior to performing patient observation.
Minimum rate of $17.12 hourly. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.
