Funding & Compliance Lead

Stafford (Hybrid - 2 days from home)
Salary: £35000 per annum

The OpportunityThis is a key role within the organisation, responsible for leading data, funding compliance, and reporting across apprenticeship provision. As Funding & Compliance Lead, you will ensure that all learner data, funding submissions, and systems are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready—supporting both operational delivery and strategic growth. You’ll work closely with delivery, finance, and quality teams, playing a central role in driving compliance standards and enabling data-led decision making.
Key Responsibilities Data & Compliance- Ensure compliance with apprenticeship funding rules and internal processes
- Manage and validate ILR submissions, resolving errors and discrepancies
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready learner records
- Support internal and external audit processes
- Identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reports on funding, performance, and compliance
- Analyse datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support forecasting and business planning through data insights
- Maintain and improve data within MIS platforms (including One File)
- Carry out data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Support system enhancements aligned to programme growth
- Work closely with delivery, quality, and finance teams
- Support departmental projects and key deadlines
- Monitor KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with in data management, compliance, or MIS in education or training
- Strong understanding of apprenticeship funding rules and audit requirements
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data
- Excellent organisation, time management, and communication skills
- Experience with in apprenticeships or FE environments
- Knowledge of funding bodies and compliance frameworks
- Experience using One File or similar systems
- Understanding of apprenticeship standards and assessment processes
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
- Awareness of the rail sector
- Hybrid working model (2 days from home, 3 days office-based)
- Role subject to DBS check
