Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £28,000 – £36,000
Location: Stafford
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established highways and civil engineering contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy commercial team supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple civils projects across the UK. The role offers strong long-term progression within a growing and supportive business.
You will be involved in day-to-day commercial administration, cost control, subcontractor management, and contract support across NEC4-based projects.
Key Responsibilities- Support the commercial team with all aspects of accounts, billing, and subcontractor management
- Prepare financial information for applications, valuations, and payment notices
- Process and evaluate subcontractor applications and invoices
- Maintain and manage subcontract documentation and compliance records
- Carry out data entry, cost tracking, and financial reporting support
- Cross-check and analyse commercial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Liaise with internal teams including operations, commercial, and finance departments
- Communicate with subcontractors to resolve queries and elevate issues where required
- Assist in drafting commercial documentation and supporting contract administration
- Support pricing and measurement activities under guidance from senior team members
- Ensure deadlines are met across multiple live projects
- Previous experience within a construction or civil engineering environment (preferred)
- Understanding of NEC4 contracts (essential)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work methodically and manage workload effectively
- Team player with a proactive and professional approach
- Salary of £28,000 – £36,000 depending on experience
