Student Services - Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer

Location:

Stafford College site

1 × 37‑hour post (1 day to be worked at the Leek Campus). Term‑time only – 38 weeks per year.

Salary: £29,480 to £32,291 per annum (NSUP
17‑NSUP
20) pro rata. Actual salary: £25,228 to £27,633 for 37‑hour post.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work within the curriculum team to identify learners who may require support because of risk factors.
  • Work with learners and the curriculum team to negotiate an appropriate action plan to reduce these risk factors.
  • Act as an independent impartial advisor on learner‑related matters, acting as an advocate for the learner where appropriate.
  • Arrange and implement regular one‑to‑one reviews with learners from the caseload.
  • Follow the College’s safeguarding procedure, taking appropriate action where necessary.
  • Liaise with external agencies on behalf of the learner, making external referrals where appropriate.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Relevant experience of working with young people and the ability to relate to them and inspire them.
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding.
  • Relevant level 3 qualification or equivalent job experience.
  • Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, able to take responsibility and work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
