About the Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to join our team in Staffordshire, with a start date in June 2026. The role involves providing bespoke, 1:1 education for young people with complex needs who are currently unable to attend school.

Responsibilities

As an Outreach Tutor, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating, planning, and delivering highly personalised lessons focused on core subjects such as English and Maths.
  • Supporting learners with significant additional needs, including assistance with mobility and the use of wheelchairs.
  • Reintroducing structure and routine into the students’ days, fostering academic progress and life‑skills development.
  • Working alongside Prospero Teaching to monitor progress and offer ongoing support to ensure the best learning outcomes.
  • Safeguarding and protecting the welfare of the children and young people you work with.
Qualifications
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners.
  • Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable).
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential).
Contract and Position Details
  • Location:

    Community‑based or within pupils’ homes in Staffordshire.
  • Position:
    Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs).
  • Full‑time/Part‑time:
    Part‑time, 15–25 hours per week.
  • Minimum rate of pay: £25–30 per hour.
  • Hours:

    1–3 hours per session.
Eligibility
  • Hold right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to process a new application).
  • Provide two professional child‑related references from the last two years.
