Teaching Assistant
Temporary for one year (with view to becoming permanent)
Grade 3 – £25,583 (pro‑rate). Actual salary £22,833; pay award pending.
32.5 hours per week – term‑time only.
Hours: 8.30 am – 3.30 pm (30‑min lunch break).
Start date: 1 September 2026.
We are seeking an experienced, confident, enthusiastic and hard‑working Teaching Assistant to work alongside our teaching team at Flash Ley Community Primary School and Nursery.
Successful applicants will work Monday‑Friday plus 5 inset days.
Responsibilities- Support pupils’ learning, working with individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction of the class teacher.
- Use specialist knowledge/experience to provide appropriate support to pupils in relation to their individual needs.
- Lead small intervention groups.
- Contribute to creating an appropriate learning environment through display and classroom organisation.
- Contribute to the planning for and delivery of the New Curriculum.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of pupil responses to learning activities using a range of assessment and monitoring strategies, providing evidence for assessment.
- Within the school’s disciplinary policy, apply behaviour‑management strategies and techniques to manage behaviour constructively and contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
- Use ICT effectively to support learning activities.
- Support and maintain positive links between home and school, making parents feel welcome and developing links with external agencies.
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 or above (or recognised equivalent qualification).
- Experience of working to support children’s learning, gained in a relevant environment (essential).
- Ability to work effectively within a team and on own initiative.
- Flexibility.
