SEND Teaching Assistant – Cooper Perry Primary School – Seighford, Staffordshire

Required:

September 2026

Temporary until 21st July 2027 due to budgetary reasons

25 hours per week - term time

Grade 3:
Annual Salary £25,583 (pro rata)

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to complement the professional work of teachers by supporting pupils with learning needs. The successful candidate will have experience of working within an early years setting and/or supporting pupils with SEND. They will play a key role in developing environment enhancements and resources, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups.

They will also be required to monitor pupils assessing their progress, giving next steps in their learning and recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and development through high quality interactions with the class teacher / SENCO.

Experience
  • Experience of working with children/young people in an early years setting / supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Recent experience of working in a school.
  • A standard of written and spoken English that supports pupils’ learning.
Qualifications/Training
  • TA specific qualification full and relevant to NVQ Level 2.
Knowledge/Skills
  • An understanding of the varied needs of children as they develop socially and academically.
  • A knowledge of behaviour management techniques that support school and classroom practices.
  • Knowledge of restorative practice to support SEND pupils.
  • A commitment to promoting equal opportunities and meeting individual needs.
  • Willingness to take part in appropriate training and personal and professional development
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to use ICT/the internet and email to support pupils’ learning.
