KPI Education is recruiting a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor / Academic Mentor to join a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Stafford.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Behaviour Mentor, SEN Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or enthusiastic graduate who is passionate about alternative education and making a genuine difference to young people's lives.

The provision supports students who have struggled within mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional or additional learning needs. We are seeking someone who can build positive relationships, inspire confidence and help students re-engage with education.

As a Behaviour Mentor / Academic Mentor, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group academic and behavioural support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Support young people who have experienced exclusion, disrupted education or challenging circumstances.
• Deliver targeted academic interventions, particularly in English and Maths.
• Develop positive relationships to improve engagement, confidence and attitudes towards learning.
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans.
• Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate resilience, empathy and a genuine commitment to alternative education.

• Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
• A genuine passion for SEN, SEMH and supporting vulnerable young people.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour calmly and positively.
• Patience, adaptability and a proactive approach.

• Previous experience within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school or mainstream education.
• Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Learning Mentor.
• A degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sports Coaching or a related subject.
• Knowledge of ADHD, autism, trauma-informed practice or positive behaviour strategies.

• £26,000 – £30,000 salary, dependent on experience.
• Opportunity to work within a specialist alternative education setting.
• Valuable experience for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists and SEN professionals.
• A rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference to young people's lives.
