As the Site Commissioning Manager you are responsible for the definition and execution of commissioning activities during ITO and OTR on several small to large projects and service contracts, acting under the direction and on behalf of the Project Managers / Bid Managers. For a given project you will define the commissioning strategy, mobilise and lead the commissioning team, and manage the execution of the commissioning scope of work.
You will ensure that Safety, Quality, Costs and Delivery comply with contractual obligations, company policy and key performance indicators. The role also involves recruitment, mentoring and training of new/graduate engineers in line with GE development processes and commissioning authorisation processes. This role reports to the GSI NSE Commissioning Leader and participates in function objective definitions and follow‑up.
During Tender (ITO)
- Provides support in the preparation of budget/target forecasts and sequencing of commissioning activities.
- Provides support in the preparation of tender documents related to commissioning activities.
- Actively provides any other required commissioning support to the tendering teams.
During Execution (OTR)
- Prepares upfront commissioning documentation as required.
- Ensures the consistent application of defined commissioning strategies.
- Prepares technical and organisational specifications for commissioning activities.
- Interfaces with the client reps, construction managers, project managers, project engineers and design engineers throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Undertakes site audits of commissioning files and marked‑up as‑installed drawings.
- Ensures adequate resources, personnel, tools and equipment are available for successful project delivery.
- Attends project and client interface meetings where required and actively follows up on any actions associated with commissioning activities.
- Sets goals and objectives for the commissioning engineers mobilised to projects.
- Liaises with the design office for timely issuance of data/information required for preparation and execution of site commissioning activities.
- Co‑ordinates with the Senior Project Commissioning Manager, Lead Commissioning Engineers and other commissioning engineers where assigned.

People Management
- Lead and manage the site teams to ensure strict correct application of operational and commissioning processes/procedures and that performance standards and project objectives are met.
- Ensure the team has the right level of know‑how and competency to perform their responsibilities through coaching and development.
- Demonstrates EHS leadership and ensures the STOP WORK POLICY is implemented within the team.
- Responsible for the correct application of the GEV GRID EHS Policy and procedures in all commissioning activities.
- Takes responsibility to reward and encourage proactive steps towards all matters related to EHS.
- Participates in EHS Gemba walks and EHS improvement initiatives on sites.
- Identifies and evaluates EHS risks and implements practical mitigation measures.
- Sets an example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observing work conditions and behaviours, giving immediate & constructive feedback and celebrating achievements or safe behaviours.
- Actively participates in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
- Ensures that appropriate safe systems of work are appropriately enacted to mitigate against hazards during commissioning activities.
