Product Development Manager

A growing engineering business is looking for a Technical Product Development Manager to lead product development across a range of specialist industrial equipment. This is a hands‑on, influential role suited to someone who can turn customer needs and technical knowledge into scalable, well‑documented and commercially viable products.

• Lead product development projects from concept to launch
• Translate customer, operational, regulatory and commercial requirements into product briefs and specifications
• Support design, prototyping, testing, validation and launch readiness
• Apply structured problem‑solving and risk management methods such as FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA or design reviews
• Maintain technical product documentation including specifications, BOMs, datasheets, manuals, test data and compliance records
• Drive product standardisation, modularisation and rationalisation
• Work cross‑functionally with technical, commercial, operational and supply‑chain teams
• Manage and develop a small product development team

You may have worked as a Product Development Manager, NPD Manager, R&D Manager, Product Engineering Manager, Technical Product Manager, Design Manager, Senior Product Engineer, Senior R&D Engineer or Technical Manager. Relevant sectors could include pumps, compressed air, generators, industrial equipment, process equipment, construction equipment, plant hire, spill response or utilities.

• Product development, engineering or technical product management experience
• Experience delivering products from concept through to launch or operational release
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical and/or electrical products
• Strong project planning, risk management and stakeholder coordination skills
• Experience creating or managing technical documentation
• Commercial awareness and practical engineering problem‑solving ability
• UK driving licence
