Job Summary

The Secondary Design Engineer will be part of a geographically diverse team of designers, subcontractors, engineers and project teams working on protection and control schematics and substation equipment. The role will offer a high level overview of design and interface with various teams throughout the project cycle.

Responsibilities
  • The Secondary Design Engineer is the technical guarantor of the proper performance of design work conditions in his/her field of activity, in line with committed design budget and customer expectation.
  • The successful candidate plans basic and detailed design activities, delivers required engineering documentation for procurement, manufacturing and site erection based on customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Establishes SLD, KLD, 3LD, AUX SLD for the basic design package.
  • Evaluates engineering workload and deliverable dates with PEM or PM and commits to budget and timelines.
  • Ensures on‑time delivery of design documents with suitable quality.
  • Coordinates with the design team leader through basic and detailed execution phases.
  • Requests and attends technical meetings with partners or suppliers as needed.
  • Highlights scope or design changes, issues, and proposes solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with customer technical requirements and seeks cost optimizations.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Relevant degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • 2–4 years of engineering experience in the related activity or discipline, preferably in project & EPC type environments within T&D, power generation or oil & gas, or 1–2 medium‑set projects in a lead engineer position.
  • Experience with project technical management processes, preferably in a multi‑disciplinary team context with multiple interfaces.
  • Several experiences managing externally subcontracted design work packages of various sizes.
  • Knowledge of the transmission or distribution industry.
