Job Description Summary
Transformer Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in HVAC (and preferably HVDC) transformers.
Job DescriptionWho We're Looking For
- You're a specialist transformer Electro Mechanical engineer with hands‑on experience in active part design / Tank / External Design. Blends technical rigor with practical judgment, driven by an unwavering curiosity to learn and innovate every day.
- Preparation of transformer detailed engineering design (including necessary calculations) and drawings (preferably 400kV and above, with HVDC / offshore experience), ability to carry out / review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and specify parameters critical to quality (CTQ) and Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA).
- Review of specifications, identification of clarifications/deviations and action plans, with the ability to lead them to conclusion.
- Selection and specification of components for ordering and manufacturing.
- Key Performance Indicators of on-time delivery, right first time and budget adherence.
- Leading communication / coordination with internal and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, other departments such as projects, tendering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, etc).
Education and Experience
- Electrical or mechanical engineer or person with similar experience (in Power Transformers).
- Experience of working on 3D, 2D tools (Inventor / equivalent, Autocad).
- Experience of Document management system (Wind Chill / equivalent).
- Transformer design knowledge (especially transformer design calculations, active part design including lead exits, insulation, windings, nesting of coils and tank design).
- Knowledge of IEC
60076. Knowledge of IEC
61378, rail car (Schnable car) design and offshore DNV standards will be preferred. - Should have worked independently on tender and project designs.
