Job DescriptionAs an intern, you will report to the Verification and Validation Department. You will join a highly motivated, dynamic and growing team of engineers working on the validation of HVDC control systems, contributing to real‑time control and protection software that ensures reliable operation of HVDC converter stations.
Responsibilities- Work as part of an expert team, gaining learning opportunities in design, development and testing of power electronics and grid control systems.
- Execute analysis, simulation, testing and integration tasks under senior engineering guidance to define and support assigned components, modules or systems that meet business standards.
- Assist in producing required technical documentation (e.g., requirement capture, design brief, test specification) under supervision.
- Follow departmental design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.
- Support laboratory activities for installation and testing of the control system.
- Apply judgement and propose alternative solutions when appropriate.
The candidate has completed at least two years of degree‑level study in a related science such as Electrical Engineering. A proven track record and evidence of the right mindset and abilities are essential.
Skills and Experience- 2:1 degree grade or above (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Good written communication skills; minimal spelling or grammatical errors.
- Eligibility to undertake a 12‑month placement and confirmation of availability for the full duration.
- Experience with Math Works MATLAB/Simulink modelling and simulation.
- Experience with PSCAD & RSCAD for power‑system studies.
- Python or similar scripting experience.
- Passion and willingness to learn; basic academic knowledge is sufficient.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self‑motivation, proactive and results‑driven approach.
- Problem‑solving and root‑cause identification skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines with high quality.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; other languages are a bonus.
